For some employers, recession could be a blessing in disguise. But one should not forget decisions like laying off employees should be done within the legal framework or else the consequences could be deadly at some instances. If equiped with strong evidence, recession is a good excuse for employers not to get rid of expensive workforce, but to get rid of the non-performing individuals.

agreed ...but when this economy is annoying them badly organizations forgets most of the good things they've been following ..sudden drop of those values ... and the most latest trend is this "Performance"..everything is performance & its a very good excuse too. Why I say like this is top organizations have a very tight hiring process.. sometimes 4-5 various types of interviews for one single applicant.. and the Performance base kick out they carry out is LIFO method. that means Last In First Out. So how can anyone measure the performance of a employee within a very short period of time. Whether anyone likes to take o not reality is that. I do not like to point to any organization or mention any name here but that is the reality.

As blogger Chamila commented I like to quote his simple view here .." the current economic crisis will pass, and employees will not forget how they were treated "

I agree also. It is also away for them to realize that they have too many people doing the same thing.
